Executive Summary

Fengyan Shi is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a core faculty member of the Center for Applied Coastal Research (CACR) at the University of Delaware (UD). He obtained his Ph.D. in the Ocean University of Qingdao, China, in 1995, and joined the department and CACR in 1998. He was an ONR Senior Summer Faculty, NRL, Stennis Space Center, in 2014, Visiting Professor at the University of Rome, Sapienza, 2016, and ORISE Faculty at OAK RIDGE Institute for Science and Education in 2020.

Fengyan Shi conducts research on numerical model developments, nearshore processes, coastal ocean hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and tsunamis. He was a major developer of numerical models, FUNWAVE-TVD, NearCoM, and NHWAVE.

Fengyan Shi serves as an Associate Editor of ASCE Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, International Editor of Korean Society of Coastal and Ocean Engineers. He was a reviewer of a number of journals, panelist of the National Science Foundation, convener of several conferences, and workshops.
