We would like to introduce you to our Transportation and Construction Engineering program at the University of Delaware. The mission of our program is to advance the knowledge on planning, design, construction, operation, and management of transportation facilities and services. All modes of transportation, auto, air, water, railroad, pedestrian/bicycle, are included in our subject of study. We emphasize systems approach to understand the interactions among transportation services, demand, mobility, socio-economic activities, environment, energy, and the quality of life in the region. Our education and research program allows the students and researchers to view transportation as part of civil infrastructure and how improved transportation facilities and services bring about the overall better quality of life. Our research topics are both theoretical and practical ranging from mathematical modeling of large scale infrastructure to design of geometric features of an intersection.

The program offers both the MS and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering or Applied Science, also offer a variety of undergraduate transportation and construction related courses. Besides being involved in a variety of topics in our program, students can actively participate in other departments in the University, such as Operations Research, Urban Affairs, Marine Studies, Geography, and Business and Public Administration.
