The objectives of these challenging undergraduate programs are to equip engineers with the skills they need to succeed in the modern engineering profession. Our curricula provide a strong foundation in the fundamentals of engineering science and mathematics while enabling students to pursue areas of individual interest. Unlike many other universities, UD engineering students are admitted directly into their major as freshmen and begin taking engineering courses during their first semester. This arrangement leaves ample time for specialized technical electives, research, and independent study during the final two years.

Qualified students in both the BCE and the BEnE degree programs may also choose to pursue one of the Honors degree options. Delaware residents may be eligible for an Edward C. Davis Tuition Scholarship, which covers tuition expenses for up to four years.

Practical experience is considered a vital component of a Delaware engineering education. Both degree plans culminate in a senior design course that focuses on real-world engineering problems. Students are also encouraged to participate in internships to gain on-the-job experience.

After you've viewed our web site, you may still have questions that you'd like to ask someone who's been a student in our program. A number of recent alumni and current students who are members of the Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society have volunteered to answer e-mail inquiries from prospective students. They can answer your questions on such topics as student life on campus, homework loads, what they like best or least about the program, or how their UD education has served them in their career. To correspond with a current student, send e-mail to askastudent@ce.udel.edu, or reach a graduate of our program at alumni@ce.udel.edu.
