Kirby Appointed Editor of Oceans Journal

James T. Kirby, Edward C. Davis Professor, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Geophysical Research - Oceans. The appointment is effective immediately, and the present term runs until December 31, 2008.

JGR-Oceans covers covers physical, biological, and chemical oceanography. The journal is published monthly by the American Geophysical Union. The AGU publishes journals on a number of other geophysical-related topics, including atmospheres, paleoceanography, water resources, and earth interactions.

Before his appointment as Editor-in-Chief, Kirby was Editor for Nearshore Oceanography and Surface Waves.
