Faculty Position
UNIVERSITY
OF DELAWARE, CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING FACULTY POSITION:
The Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in the area of geotechnical engineering starting Fall
2006. While it is anticipated that the positions will be filled
at the assistant professor level, exceptional candidates will
be considered for appointment at higher levels. An earned doctoral
degree in civil engineering is required, and professional registration
or the potential to obtain registration is desirable. Successful
candidates must have exceptional qualifications and be capable
of developing outstanding teaching and independent research programs.
The
Civil and Environmental Engineering Department has 23 faculty
members, approximately 350 undergraduate students, and 90 graduate
students. The department has active research programs in coastal,
environmental, geotechnical, structural, and transportation engineering.
Four research centers--the Center for Applied Coastal Research,
the Center for Innovative Bridge Engineering, the Center for the
Study of Metals in the Environment, and the Delaware Center for
Transportation--facilitate multidisciplinary research and education
within the department.
The
University is located in Newark, Delaware, an attractive college
town within easy reach of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and
Washington, D.C.
