The University of Delaware is located along the northeast corridor of the U.S., about midway between Baltimore and Philadelphia, along Interstate 95. Driving time is approximately two-and-a-half hours from New York City, less than two hours from Washington, D.C., an hour from Baltimore (an hour and fifteen minutes from BWI Airport), and an hour from Philadelphia (45 minutes from Philadelphia International Airport).

The map below shows the location of all engineering departments on the main UD campus. Please note, however, that parking lot 57 indicated on the map is no longer a visitors' lot. Click here for a map of all parking lots on the UD campus; the lots shown in green are "pay-to-park" lots that may be used by visitors.

From Baltimore and Washington, D.C.:

Take Interstate 95 North.
Continue to exit 109B (Look for "Elkton/Newark, Del." and "University of Delaware" signs).

Exit at 109B onto Md. Rt. 279, which heads northeast towards Newark. At the Maryland-Delaware state line, Rt. 279 becomes Del. Rt. 2 (Elkton Road) and feeds you right into Newark. Elkton Road will eventually end and force you to take a right turn onto Delaware Avenue. At your second stoplight, you're at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and South College Avenue.

You are now near the College of Engineering's five main buildings, two of which face the famed University mall, one building south of Delaware Avenue; the other three face Academy Street. You may either park in the municipal lot (a left off of Delaware Avenue) or turn right onto Academy Street at your next stoplight and continue south until you reach UD visitor parking lot #57 (on your left). Or you may be lucky enough to find on-street metered parking.

From Philadelphia:

Take Interstate 95 South. (As an alternate around Wilmington, Delaware, you may take I-495. It merges with I-95 south of Wilmington.)

Continue on Interstate 95 South to Exit 1B (Del. Rt. 896 north). Exit onto Rt. 896 and continue straight (road name is South College Avenue), passing the University of Delaware Athletic Complex (on your right) and the Chrysler Corporation (on your left). Continue over a bridge and go straight through one stoplight (intersection of South College Ave. and Park Place). You will pass by University buildings (on your right), go through a flashing yellow light and under a pedestrian overpass before coming to your next stoplight, at which you'll turn right onto Delaware Avenue.

From New York via New Jersey Turnpike:

The southern termination point of the New Jersey Turnpike merges with Interstate 295 and will take you across the Delaware Memorial Bridge. I-295 will then merge will Interstate 95. Make sure you follow signs for I-95 south (towards Newark and Baltimore).
