Our EWRE web pages for the Environmental Engineering Program at the University of Delaware will introduce you to just a few of the exciting things going on here in education, research, and community activities. I'd

like to give you a quick overview of who we are and how you might develop a useful working relationship with us--perhaps as a student, researcher, engineer, citizen, environmentalist, or otherwise!

Who we are:

The Environmental and Water Resources Engineering group consists of seven full-time faculty, several adjunct faculty, and upwards of 50 graduate students. Our offices and laboratories are located in DuPont Hall, including 18 teaching and research labs totaling about 10,000 square feet. Though this is a smaller program than many others are, the University of Delaware has a long-standing reputation for excellence in Environmental Engineering that we combine with a friendly and personal atmosphere.

How you can work with us:

If you want to develop highly regarded capabilities as an Environmental Engineer, join our educational programs! At the undergraduate level, we have offered since 1995 a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, with an enrollment of 10-20 students in each class. This degree is meant for those committed to an intensive training in environmental engineering, who want to graduate with the best possible credentials directed towards a career in this area. We also teach courses that allow undergraduates in our Civil Engineering degree program to experience the breadth of environmental engineering topics.

Our
graduate program offers both Master's and Ph.D. degrees. Our Master's degree program combines rigor with flexibility. It is designed not only for those with undergraduate degrees in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, but also related non-engineering fields such as Chemistry, Environmental Science, and many others. Most of our Master's students are full-time and will include research and a thesis in their degree program.

In addition, our graduate program also offers evening classes and non-thesis option to enable part-time students and working professionals to earn the Master's degree. You can find more information at the Graduate Program and the Engineering Outreach Program web pages.

Earning a Ph.D. is one of the most challenging and exhilarating experiences you can ever hope for. We conduct world-class research here and the Ph.D. from our program will signify that you are truly an expert in an environmentally critical area. Visit our web pages for graduate program, research projects and facilities, but also contact us to the on a one-to-one basis if you are considering a Ph.D.

If you are one of our alumni - graduate or undergraduate CE that led you into Environmental Engineering or Water Resources areas - we want to hear from you!  Please join our Alumni E-mail Network by sending your name, degree, year of graduate, business address and e-mail address to
alumni@ce.udel.edu. You may also use this address to let us know about address changes or to share your personal or career news with us. If you would like to listed on our EWRE alumni page, simply indicate so in your e-mail to pei@udel.edu with the above information. You are also encouraged to visit the CEE alumni page, where you can find alumni news, directory, and much more!

Finally, it is a matter of pride with us that we are more than an "ivory-tower" institution. We interact with environmentalists, with treatment plant managers, with companies large and small, with governments and journalists. If you are looking for technical expertise, consider our faculty as a resource. We suggest you start with a scan of our web sites to determine the most appropriate contact person.

Welcome to the University of Delaware!
