ARSC 390 - Technology in America:
From the Steamboat to the Internet and Beyond

In this course, we will trace the evolution of technology in America over the past two centuries and discuss the scientific as well as the social issues associated with technological change. The course will be taught from an historical perspective but will conclude with a discussion of current technological challenges such as our future energy sources and global warming.

• Class participation is 20% of the grade, so 100% class attendance is important. If for any reason you cannot be in class please email me and explain why.
• Email assignments are to be in @ 9 AM on the date due. They will be included in the class participation grade.
  
• Writing assignments (including drafts) are to be submitted in writing in class on the date due. Late assignments can be emailed to Ben Aaron (drafts) or Prof. Heck (final papers), but 5% will be deducted for each day late.
• All late assignments will receive at least a 5% deduction. Since assignments and due dates are given well in advance of the due date, there are very few good reasons for late assignments.
  

• All students must do their own work.
• Any effort which proves otherwise will be reported to the Office of Judicial Affairs.
