What
Have Participants Said About the NSF-REU Program in Bridge Engineering?
About
the research:
It was
great to do research with such involved and knowledgeable professors.
I learned
valuable lessons in time management and discovered which parts of research
I like and don't like.
I had
a great learning experience, getting to do research on a relevant topic and
using equipment in the lab.
The faculty
provided a wealth of information in regard to the research process in general
and the specific topic.
About
the field trips:
The bridge-related
trips were excellent. They were well-organized and scheduled.
This
is what made the program so great - invaluable experiences. The trips were
well organized, informative, and fun.
Every
field trip was a valuable learning experience and helped visually in seeing
the importance of the research we were doing.
The Delaware
Memorial Bridge tour was probably the best tour I have ever been on.
About
the experience:
It was
cool how people were from all over the U.S.
I changed
my mind and am now planning on attending grad school. This program solidified
my desire to go into bridge design in the future.
I am
very glad I did this program. I would recommend it to any student interested
in or thinking about going to grad school.
About
the program administration:
I enjoyed
the overall atmosphere of the civil engineering department here at Delaware.
The REU
program staff were great - all of our needs were met, and our questions and
concerns were answered.
The staff
in charge of the program was very enthusiastic and hospitable.
The REU
program staff was very responsive in answering questions and providing support.
And
Overall:
The
planned field trips and the social activities, in addition to the research,
all accumulated to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
